Could it ever really happen? In May, we brought you news that years ago, there had been loose discussion that Eminem and 50 Cent would make an entire album together. DJ Whoo Kid had a good laugh, telling us some of the names that were thrown around in jest for the dream project, like Ebony and Ivory. You guys wrote in and, for the most part, were in full support of the joint effort.
"Oh yes ... they should totally do an album together," a fan named Tuff_Brunette wrote. They would be soooo perfect. They would complement each other so nicely. I am really hoping this happens! Since I wasn't too fond of Em's album anyways, which was massively disappointing, I'll give him another shot if he gets with 50. ... Heck yes."
"I would love an album of Dre and Eminem together!" Fobgirl posted.
Jasent76 co-signed on the dream album: "Holy sh--! I would love to have a full album of Em & 50 together! How badass is that!?"
Very badass, Jasent. While we still haven't heard word from Mr. Mathers, 50 Cent told us last week that he'd be down to do an album with his homie Eminem. "I'd love to," 50 said about a LP with Slim Shady.
Fif even devised a couple of scenarios to make it work.
"We haven't [seriously] discussed making an album together, 'cause we would have to sit collectively and create each song," he said. "Unless we was doing something where half of it was his and half of it was mine. And conceptually, maybe if he came up with the first six songs and I built the last six songs and we just featured on each other's records, you know what I mean? We'd do that in a heartbeat."
Maybe we'll get heavy doses of Em and Fif together on Dr. Dre's Detox LP ...
The Streets Is Talking: News & Notes From the Underground
Raekwon the Chef is out promoting Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II, but there are a couple of other LPs he's looking toward in the future. There's a Rae, Method Man and Ghostface Killah album being talked about, as well as that full Wu-Tang Clan LP called Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang. If you remember, Rae first spoke of that album to Miss Info a few years ago during the promotion of the ill fated 8 Diagrams LP. Rae hinted that Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang would be some type of payback toward the RZA.
Rae explained that there is currently no unrest within the Wu, so Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang will instead pay homage to the Clan's beginning.
"Before I was a member of Wu, I was an MC on the street that just loved hip-hop," the Chef said. "When you think of Shaolin [Staten Island], you think of the home of the brave. Before anything and everything, this is where you was from. You inherited your style as a kid coming up. Shaolin is still considered the streets to us. So it's like me challenging my old way of life. This album was designed to let the master know your students are now masters too. We wanted to take it back to challenging the master on a couple of techniques we feel we got from the street side of things.
"We always said Wu-Tang members are a group but still able to hold their own," he added. "When you're able to hold your own, you're still considered that dude from Shaolin that's nice. It's just an alter-ego thing challenging the sharpest sword we ever had with our old tactics that allowed us to get that far as a Clan. [It'll] be alter egos challenging each other, really allowing RZA to fall back on the production and allowing us to give him a flashback memory to the things we know we need from the abbot [RZA]. We want him to be involved [with the album as an MC], but the concept was for him not to be involved production-wise."
Rae compared Wu to a martial-arts film.
"It's like when you look at your illest karate flick," he said. "Sometimes the abbot be whooping on you so much, he's teaching you to get iller. Next thing you know, you whoop on the abbot. Now he already know: 'I gotta give you the crown now.' It's all love, and it's movies. Our life is a karate flick. If you look at a karate flick, it's the same kinda format in our life."

Now that Chris Brown has apologized for the altercation that took place earlier this year between him and Rihanna, will the "Umbrella" singer be next to speak up?
Well, according to Ne-Yo, it's more likely to happen in an interview than a song. The singer/songwriter said Rihanna won't be addressing the matter on any material he writes for her next album.
"I've done some stuff for Rihanna's [project]," he told MTV News. "I didn't really want to go there too much, because I know that's what everybody is expecting. I don't think there isn't a person alive that doesn't know what happened and what it was. I don't feel like it needs to be glorified. I don't think that needs to be a song that's sung or written. It's sad that it took that happening to get the attention it deserves. Women get beat up all the time, and nobody says anything about it or chooses to do anything about it. But now that it happened to a celebrity, [it's], 'Let's talk about it on Oprah Winfrey.' "
In the past, Ne-Yo has worked with Britney Spears, and during the tumultuous time following her divorce form Kevin Federline, he told MTV News the "Toxic" superstar would touch on her personal life on the record.
This time, however, Ne-Yo said he isn't able to go there with Rihanna, nor does he want to, because of his friendship with Brown.
"Chris Brown is a friend of mine, and I don't view him as a bad guy for what happened," Ne-Yo explained. "It was an absolute mistake, and he has some lessons to learn and some maturing to do. But I'm not gonna bash him for that. I'm not gonna turn my back on a person I call my friend because he made a mistake. [So] I can't write the Chris Brown bash song and then turn around and look myself in the mirror."

Nino Brown: The Road to Rikers, Part 1
"Three days, y'all — let's party!" Lil Wayne said on Saturday (February 27). Now that his dental surgery is done, Weezy is expected to begin serving his year in jail on weapons charges Tuesday, but he's making sure he's seen and heard before his departure. Of late, Weezy has taken to Twitter (much more on than in a minute) and Ustream to communicate with fans. On Saturday evening, Weezy and his favorite videographer, DJ Scoob Doo, sent MTV News a clip we're going to call "Nino Brown: The Road to Rikers, Part 1" (as in Rikers Island, the New York jail that Wayne's heading to).
In the clip, Wayne promises to grant fans a look at what his life is like as he prepares to go to jail.
Shot Saturday afternoon in the guest house of his Miami home, Wayne had the NCAA game of Tennessee vs. Kentucky playing in the background on his big-screen TV.
"This is for my real fans," Wayne said. "People who wanna know what I be doin'. I'mma let y'all in."
From there, Wayne, who recently tweeted that he was giving up Twitter (although he's tweeted since then), urged his fans to follow him at his page, "@liltunechi."
"I just opened that up," Weezy said. "I got almost 200,000 followers. I need more followers. I saw Drake had like 400,000 followers. I need more followers than Drake."
Wayne then gave background on his nickname.
"My nickname is Lil Tune — my grandmother named me that," he explained. "She's passed. My grandmother, her name was Mercedes Carter. She named me Lil Tune. We just threw the 'Chi' on there. Like Gucci, I say 'Tunechi!' "
The clip ends with Weezy shouting out all his children, their mothers and his own mom.
Wayne will be shooting footage right up until he goes to court on Tuesday — check back with MTV News for more!

Jennifer Lopez might be between record labels, but her television appearances have been fast and frequent.
After filming an episode of CBS' "How I Met Your Mother" last month, playing a sexy self-help guru who seduces Neil Patrick Harris' character, Lopez hit "Saturday Night Live" for the first time in almost a decade.
"The first time I was on this show was 10 years ago. ... Back then I was single and traveling around with a big entourage," Lopez said, opening the show in a form-fitting black leather dress. "But people grow up; now I'm married with two beautiful children."
The singer/actress went on to have an awkward conversation with comedian and "SNL" cast member Kenan Thompson, who was posing as a discarded member of her 1990s entourage, flanked by two drag queens wearing her infamous green barely-there dress and a denim bodysuit. All ended well as Thompson left the stage with the drag queens in tow and J. Lo began the show.
Another skit portrayed "We Are the World 3," a spoof of the recent remake. Lopez played Rihanna, wearing a black and white Balmain-inspired leather jacket with gold hoops, hipster sunglasses and a blond cropped wig.
"There comes a time, eh!, when we heed a certain call, eh!" Lopez sang, poking fun at the "Rude Boy" singer.
In the next skit, Lopez was part of a Winter Olympics curling team. She played a confused Telemundo reporter covering the Winter Olympics in another.
"We don't understand these, es loca!" said Lopez, wearing an orange blazer.
The strangest clip had to be a mock celebrity news interview in which Lopez was questioned by Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader, leading the Bronx native to scream "paciencia y fe" ("patience and faith") like a madwoman before stomping out of view.
Lopez also performed two guiter-led songs including the Danja-produced, Wynter Gordon-written "Starting Over" from her forthcoming album, Love? Her LP is slated to hit stores this summer. Lopez still has not specified what label she has signed to, but Deadline Hollywood, the blog that originally broke the story of the Sony split, reported that she is in talks with Island Def Jam. Neither she nor her former label, Sony Records, has discussed what precipitated the split, but Deadline speculated that it might have been a response to the poor critical and commercial reception to the album's first official single, "Louboutins," which failed to light up the charts.
Lopez's episode of "How I Met Your Mother" airs March 8, and she is rumored to be in talks for an appearance on the Golden Globe-winning show "Glee."

Monday night was the premiere of Lady Gaga and Beyoncé's sexy, Hype Williams-directed "Video Phone" video, featuring the two pop stars dancing and posing pin-up style with massive toy guns and matching leotards.
The clip is charged with energy, and the cynics out there might wonder if putting two sizzling divas in a room together created any kind of rivalry. But Gaga says there was no such thing.
"What I was excited about is with B, I had no ego," Gaga told MTV News about the collaboration. "Neither of us had an ego. It wasn't about competition. It was about, like, 'Man let's give the world what they want. Let's do a real girl-power collaboration where we support one other.' "
For the Day-Glo-tinged video, Gaga ditched her typical avant-garde look and styled herself more like Beyoncé. "I said, 'I want to do you in your video, and I want to tribute you. I want to dress up like you,' " she recalled telling her co-star. "And Hype Williams ... was so excited. He was like, 'Gaga I want no makeup on your face.' It was really stripped down — real Beyoncé hair, and we wore the same outfit in the video, and I [paid tribute to] her."
Gaga, whose own gothic-pop aesthetic has grown more elaborate as her popularity has risen, said she wanted to honor B for creating her own style. "I wanted to [work with her] because this was an era for her in her career where she defined herself aesthetically," she said. "And that should be applauded that a woman did that. She's so great at what she does."

Gucci Mane spoke out for the first time Tuesday (November 17) since being sent back to jail last week. Through a statement sent to XXLMag.com, Gucci said he is prepared to face the music.
"I have accepted full responsibility for my actions, and I am ready to deal with what is in front of me right now," Gucci's statement read. "Thankfully, my label is still moving forward with my album release, so I will have plenty to look forward to when I get out. I am remaining positive and want my fans to know that I am grateful for their loyalty and continued support. I will get through this."
Last week, Gucci was sentenced to 12 months in jail for a probation violation. He failed to serve hundreds of hours of community service and attend classes for anger management and drug and alcohol abuse. Gucci also disregarded court orders to obtain permission for his travel. His lawyer and the courts say the rapper will serve no more than six months. During his sentencing, Gucci faced two and a half years, but the judge was lenient.
"First of the year, he could be out," Gucci's lawyer Dwight L. Thomas explained to MTV News last week. "It all depends on his conduct and how he conducts himself while he's there. We're working on other avenues that might entitle him to be released early. If nothing happens at all, he'll do six months. But if we're able to do some of the things we're exploring, we may get this thing down to two months."
"You can't hold down a man like Gucci for long," Shawty Lo told Mixtape Daily about his friend's sentence. "His situation is unfortunate, but he'll be back on top in a few."

Sound Off: Kevin Smith's New Comedy Cop Out - Thoughts?
Now that you've seen it, what did you think? Opening in theaters this weekend is Kevin Smith's ninth feature film, called Cop Out, following Zack and Miri Make a Porno from 2008. It's a modern day buddy cop comedy in the same vein as the Lethal Weapon movies of the 80's, but is it as good those? Cop Out got slammed by critics and has a 19% on Rotten Tomatoes, but were the critics just unable to enjoy the humor? How are Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan as partners? Is it as good as Kevin Smith's past few films or worse? If you've seen it, then leave a comment below and let us know what you thought of Kevin Smith's Cop Out.
To fuel the fire, I really wanted to like this movie, but ultimately I couldn't. I didn't understand what movie was trying to do - make a mockery of the buddy cop comedies of the 80's or be a modern version of an 80's buddy cop comedy, funny in its own way? Unfortunately it just felt like a mess and although I enjoyed a few parts of it, overall it wasn't that good. All of the good jokes were spoiled in the trailer and everything else in it wasn't funny. I didn't find myself laughing much and wasn't otherwise impressed with the characters or anything. However, I will say I was impressed to see that everything in the story connected together so well.

Tron Legacy Viral Event Recap - Trailer Premiere in IMAX 3D
Last week, Disney kicked off a big viral game for Tron Legacy that resulted in the unveiling of this special event held today (Saturday) in five major cities around the world. The tickets were given out on a site called Pit Cell and the event sold out within 20 seconds. Our event in LA was hosted at The Bridge in IMAX 3D. Right at the beginning, the lights went down, the two minute trailer premiered, and then the lights came up. But the audience demanded they show it again, so to allow time for the print to be rewound, they brought up Tron Legacy director Joe Kosinski and original Tron director Steve Lisberger for a quick Q&A as well.
I don't have a transcript of the Q&A (HitFix does), but it was great to see these two collaborating so much. More often than not we don't see creators of the original working on sequels like this that are hitting some 28 years after the original, but Lisberger seems intimately involved and has a lot of faith in Kosinski. The trailer itself looked incredible in 3D. It's a full two minute trailer with lots of footage inside and outside of the Tron computer world. It starts off with Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund) in the real world and we get to see Alan Bradley (Bruce Boxleitner) talking to him about how his dad disappeared. We also get to see some sweet shots of Michael Sheen, Olivia Wilde, Beau Garrett, and of course, Jeff Bridges! I got chills watching.
I'm not going to describe the entire trailer to you, because it'll be online in a few days and I prefer to just let it speak for itself. I actually can't wait to watch the it again over and over. I've heard that we'll have to work through another viral game to get to the trailer online, so stay tuned. I don't know about everyone else, but Tron Legacy is now my most anticipated movie of 2010 hands down. Everything about it is perfect - the world they created, casting, characters, the way it looks, even Daft Punk scoring it. I'm unabashedly excited. I think some people had way too high of expectations for this event. It's not due out until December 17th, so we've got a long way to go, a 10 full months, and that means there's plenty more to come (both virals and footage). This was the first time we've ever seen any REAL footage from Tron Legacy anyway. They still have a lot of work to do and a long way to go which means there's more we'll eventually see. So if there are any of you that are let down by the fact that there was this much of a build up for only a two minute trailer, I'm certain you'll forget all about this by the time the movie comes out.
